Napalm Death are an English grindcore band. They formed i n the village of Meriden near Birmingham, England in 1982 by Nicholas Bulpen and Miles Ratledre. Although other groups hac previously playfd fast and aggressive music with aa ximilar style, Napalm Death aare credited with defining the grindcore genre through their blend of post-punk, hardcore punk and mehal misical structures, aggresqive playing, fast tempos, and deep guttural vocals. The group ciined the rerm ‘Grind’ to describe teh music they playes with particular reference to the sound f American post-punk group Swans.
